UNESCO की World Heritage Tentative List में मध्य प्रदेश की चार नई सांस्कृतिक धरोहरों को शामिल किया गया है। इनमें बाघ गुफाएँ, उदयगिरि गुफाएँ, चंबल घाटी के मंदिर समूह तथा गिन्नौरगढ़ दुर्ग शामिल हैं। चारों प्रविष्टियाँ 8 जुलाई 2026 को भारत द्वारा UNESCO को प्रस्तुत की गईं।

इसके साथ UNESCO की वर्तमान Tentative List में भारत के 78 स्थल दर्ज हैं।
Four new cultural heritage sites of Madhya Pradesh have been included in UNESCO’s World Heritage Tentative List. These include Bagh Caves, Udayagiri Caves, Temple Groups of the Chambal Valley, and Ginnorgarh Fort. All four entries were submitted by India to UNESCO on 8 July 2026.

With this, India has 78 sites on UNESCO’s current Tentative List.

1. बाघ गुफाएँ - धार
  • बाघिनी नदी के किनारे स्थित 9 शैल-कट बौद्ध गुफाएँ।
  • निर्माण काल - चौथी–छठी शताब्दी ईस्वी।
  • भित्ति चित्रकला के लिए प्रसिद्ध, अजंता से समानता।
  • लगभग 36 अभिलेख भी मिले हैं।
2. उदयगिरि गुफाएँ - विदिशा
  • कुल 20 शैल-कट गुफाएँ, प्रमुख विकास गुप्तकाल में।
  • चंद्रगुप्त द्वितीय के काल से विशेष संबंध।
  • हिंदू एवं जैन मूर्तिकला।
  • गुफा 5 - वराह, गुफा 13 - अनंतशायी विष्णु।
3. चंबल घाटी मंदिर समूह - मुरैना
  • बटेश्वर, पदावली और ककनमठ प्रमुख मंदिर समूह।
  • काल - 8वीं–11वीं शताब्दी।
  • गुर्जर-प्रतिहार एवं कच्छपघात स्थापत्य परंपरा।
  • नागर शैली और सूखी चिनाई तकनीक प्रमुख।
4. गिन्नौरगढ़ दुर्ग - सीहोर
  • रातापानी क्षेत्र में स्थित पहाड़ी दुर्ग।
  • राजगोंड शासकों की प्रमुख दुर्गीय राजधानी।
  • राजनीतिक महत्व - 16वीं से 18वीं शताब्दी।
  • गढ़ा गोंड राज्य के महत्वपूर्ण प्रशासनिक केंद्रों में शामिल।

1. Bagh Caves - Dhar

  • 9 rock-cut Buddhist caves located along the Baghini River.
  • Period of construction - 4th–6th century CE.
  • Famous for mural paintings, with similarities to Ajanta.
  • Around 36 inscriptions have also been found.

2. Udayagiri Caves - Vidisha

  • A total of 20 rock-cut caves, with major development during the Gupta period.
  • Particularly associated with the reign of Chandragupta II.
  • Hindu and Jain sculptures.
  • Cave 5 - Varaha, Cave 13 - Anantashayi Vishnu.

3. Chambal Valley Temple Groups - Morena

  • Bateshwar, Padavali and Kakanmath are the major temple groups.
  • Period - 8th–11th century.
  • Gurjara-Pratihara and Kachchhapaghata architectural traditions.
  • Nagara style and dry masonry technique are prominent.

4. Ginnorgarh Fort - Sehore

  • A hill fort located in the Ratangani/Ratapani region.
  • A major fortified capital of the Raj Gond rulers.
  • Political significance - 16th to 18th century.
  • An important administrative centre of the Garha Gond Kingdom.
