4. Major Features of the Project

• 186.62 million cubic metres (MCM) of water will be lifted from the Narmada River.
• Water lifting point from the Narmada River – Chandankhedi, Kukshi Tehsil, Dhar district.
• Water from the Narmada River will be released into the Mahi River.
• An underground pressurized pipeline system will be used.
• There is a provision to provide 20 metres of pressurized water up to a chak of approximately 2.5 hectares.
• Farmers will be able to use water in their fields through drip and sprinkler irrigation systems.
• The project will require approximately 102.30 MW of electricity.
• It will help in achieving more effective irrigation with less water and increasing agricultural production.

• Initial Administrative Approval – 27 February 2018.
• Initially Approved Cost – ₹2,050.70 crore.
• Revised Cost in 2024 – ₹2,387.60 crore.
• Inauguration – 24 October 2026.

• Expansion of irrigation facilities in the tribal-dominated areas of Dhar and Jhabua.
• Promotion of Rabi crop production along with Kharif crops.
• Increase in agricultural productivity and farmers' income.
