READ
- Launch: On 4 September 2026, ISRO successfully launched the EOS-05 Earth Observation Satellite onboard the GSLV-F17 rocket.
- GSLV Flight: It was the 19th flight of GSLV, launched from the Second Launch Pad (SLP) at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
- EOS-05 Feature: EOS-05 is India's first Geosynchronous Imaging Satellite, designed for Earth imaging from Geosynchronous Orbit.
- Orbital Placement: EOS-05 was first placed into Sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (Sub-GTO). It will then be moved to Geosynchronous Orbit through necessary Orbital Manoeuvres.
- Applications: The Earth Observation Data obtained from EOS-05 can be used in agriculture, water resources, environmental monitoring, forestry, urban planning and disaster management.
- GSLV Configuration: The mission used the three-stage GSLV configuration, comprising solid, liquid and cryogenic propulsion.
- Significance: The mission strengthens India's Earth Observation capabilities and its ability to place heavy satellites into high-energy orbits.
