MPPSC Engineering Service Exam Pattern

The MP Engineering Service exam is conducted in two stages — Prelims (screening) and Mains (merit-based selection).

Prelims Stage

  • Paper I (GS Paper): General Studies — 200 marks (objective type)
  • Paper II (Engineering Aptitude): Engineering subject-based aptitude — 200 marks (objective type)
  • Negative marking: 1/3 mark deducted per wrong answer in Prelims
  • Prelims is a screening test; marks are NOT counted in final merit

Mains Stage

  • Subject-specific engineering papers (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) — descriptive type
  • Mains marks form the basis of the final merit list
  • No negative marking in Mains
